Maje is sub-district in Bengkulu province and bordered with Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park. This area show that human wildlife conflict incidents are very high, include tiger and elephant. WRU (Wildlife Response Unit) WCS-Indonesia Program noted that tiger conflict happened in 2 villages; Air Bacang and Tanjung Aur since August 2009. WRU also noted that in May 2009, they were accepted and checked tiger coflict in Maje, but in different village. During 6 months (August – October 2009), 23 goats from 10 owners and 1 dog killed by 2 tigers in Tanjung Aur and Air Bacang. The conflict incidents located in forest production, at least 3-5 km from Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park.
Based on BKSDA request in 
Kaur office (Maje is under district Kaur), WRU brought full team to support tiger conflict mitigation during 4-9 November 2009. Day 1 and 2, WRU found old tiger footprint in afternoon and carried out night patrol with Tanjung Aur villagers. Team trained villagers to use bamboo canon, flare, repair the cages, and walked around the villages to do night patrol. Day 3, one dog killed at km 13 and team found new footprint headed to shrubs near Air Bacang village. Day 4 and 5, WRU team tried to checked shrubs in village but found nothing. WRU also suggested villager to repair goats cages and tighten dog outside conflict area. But, villager’s respond is very slow; they do nothing to repair cages. Day 6, WRU decided back to Kotaagung to let villagers do their self-mitigation and see what they have done to avoid tiger conflict after WRU visit to trained them.
WRU suggested BKSDA Bengkulu to do more activities in Tanjung Aur and Air Bacang, especially routine patrol in forest production with polhut from Dinas Kehutanan Kaur, responded conflict information by mitigation. Based on villager information, they often bored to contact government because the respond is very limited. (dna).
