conflict map Sumatran Tiger Presence in Rajawali Village, Bandar Surabaya, Central Lampung WRU (Wildlife Response Unit) accepted tiger presence information from Rajawali villager at August 2009. This village bordered with Gaya Baru V, which is tiger presence often reported by villager. So far, tiger not disturbed people and their livestock. But people already afraid to do their routine activities in crop field. At least 80% villager keep livestock (goats, cows, and buffalos). This animal is favourite prey for tiger in conflict area.

WRU predicted that the tiger teritory covered Way Kambas National Park and border areas, include Rajawali. Distance from Rajawali village with Way Kambas is about 2 km. However, it is possibe that tiger have a chance to visit those village.

ronda malam Sumatran Tiger Presence in Rajawali Village, Bandar Surabaya, Central Lampung WRU visited Rajawali at August 20, 2009. Team’s mission is carry out villager meeting, to reduce people restless from tiger presence in their village. In those meeting, WRU socialize self protection from tiger attack and laws of wildlife protection. Team also remind villager not to kill the tiger because tiger is fully protected by law even they feel disturbed with this predator.

Day 1 (August 20), WRU with villager carry out night patrol, prepared simple equipments like bamboo canon and other noise tools to force out tiger from their settlement. In the morning, team with villager try to find tiger signs. Day 2-Day 4 (August 21-23), WRU continue to do patrol and check tiger signs. Until monday afternoon, tiger presence is not detected in Rajawali village. Before leaving, WRU give a message to villager to continue night patrol surounding their village to avoid tiger attack.(dna)
